Placenta Services

Why should placenta consumption be considered?

Many expectant mothers are interested in placentophagy, or placenta consumption. Postpartum mothers often find it can help with milk production, uterine healing, energy and depressive disorders after the birth.

For maximum benefits, placenta consumption should begin within 3 days of birth.

There are also new treatments being offered to autistic children from ingesting (or transfusing) the stem cells available in the umbilical cord.

What methods can be used for placenta consumption and preservation?

Placenta capsules: prepared, steamed and dehydrated, this is an easy form to consume and the one prepared most often.

Placenta recipes: your placenta can be cleaned and prepared to your specifications after giving birth

Placenta smoothies: cleaned and prepared for smoothies, the first of which is made at your birth

Placenta tincture: cleaned and prepared in tincture form for long term storage that can be useful for menopause

Serenity Midwifery no longer offers in house placenta services; however, please visit our links page for a list of several doulas and birth workers who offer placenta services.
